August's Charts

Clearly summer has got to you all and you've been partyin' hard with your Sims. The August number one is, as expected, the very latest add-on for The Sims, House Party.
Tropico took second place proving that strategy games are the number one genre on the Mac in the UK.
Suprisingly, last month's top releases Alice and Tomb Raider Chronicles have failed to build on their good performance in July. The biggest suprise is that the relatively unknown title American McGee's Alice is out-selling the much fancied Chronicles. Have you tired of Lara already? Myst III Exile stays in the top 5 which is an excellent performance for an expensive import. We expect even greater things when the UK version is released in September. The new adventure from Graphic Simulations, Summoner has made it into the Top Ten. Again a good performance assisted by the fact MacGold has trailed its development progress on this website for many months.
But another surprise is the demise of last month's number one, Lord of Destruction, which has crashed out of the top ten. As always a number of quality older titles are in the Top Twenty, Railroad Tycoon 2, Star Wars Pod RacerUnreal Tournement and Total Annihilation Gold, all benefiting from very low retail prices.

5, Myst 3 Exile
Features five entirely new Ages for players to explore and hours of new mysteries to uncover, and a new villain of course! A must for all Myst and Riven fans.
6, Summoner
With rings of channelling, Summoners call forth demons and golems, supernatural servants and elemental creatures. Summoners have toppled empires and challenged gods. They are venerated as saviours and feared as destroyers. Crossing a massive world, from cities to sewers to forests and beyond. Joseph seeks the ancient rings that are the source of his power. He will encounter hundreds of people, both friend and foe, including the three that will aid in his quest. Together, they will face danger and uncover the secrets know only to the Summoner. 7, Tomb Raider Chronicles
5th adventure - a high -tech city, the ruins of Rome, to a German U-boat and more. Tightrope walking, parallel bar swinging and a hand-to-hand stealth attack. A grappling hook gun, sniper rifle, and chloroform. An enhanced inventory system provides greater combinations. Level editor, including a tutorial - infinitely replayable.
