July 2002 Charts
Wow, July 2002 was a helluva month for Mac gamers! You can see all the top quality games that were released clustered at the top of the MacGold Top 20 games chart for July 2002. In the end just two sales separated the top two games with Medal of Honor just getting it's neck in front to take the honours away from WarCraft 3 Reign of Chaos. The top six places all belong to new releases for the Macintosh.

Away from the games, our pre-orders for the new Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar are breaking all records and it is easily the top selling Mac application.


Top 20 Games
1, Medal of Honor Allied Assault
Top selling WWII game. 1942-45. Survive the D-Day landings and fight across Europe to the Bridge at Remagen. Even don enemy uniforms to evade capture! Over 20 levels of action using the Quake III engine. Over 20 authentic WWII weapons and 22 different types of enemy from snipers to the Gestapo!

2, WarCraft 3 Reign of Chaos

4, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
Real-time strategy set in the unique and familiar Star Wars universe. Uses the Age of Empires II engine so is guaranteed to be a knockout! You're in charge of one of six groups: Rebels, Royal Naboo, Gungans, Wookiees, Galactic Empire, or Trade Federation. Each has its own campaign, each with up to 7 missions. Execute your campaign over land, sea and air with over 300 different units and structures in single-player campaigns, skirmishes and multiplayer battles

5, Stronghold
Stronghold is a real-time strategy game that tries to bridge the gap between the RTS and city-building genres. Stronghold will focus specifically on building castles and then fighting your enemies while defending your home front.

6, Max Payne
You play a fugitive undercover cop running from both criminals and the police to try and get your life back to normal in a chaotic future version of New York City. Self-adjusting difficulty level ensures that the game is always challenging and never a walkover or nigh impossible.

7, realMYST
realMYST is the version of Myst that Cyan and the world-famous Miller brothers always wanted to make, but the technology wasn't ready - until now. Experience a fully immersive, dynamic world that you can wander through and with which you can interact. Has an entirely new realm to discover!

8, Return to Castle Wolfenstein
You are a highly decorated Army Ranger tasked with escaping and then returning to Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to thwart Heinrich Himmler's occult and genetic experiments. Through genetic engineering and the harnessing of occult powers, Himmler hopes to raise an unstoppable army to level the Allies once and for all. If you played the earlier versions take a look at the screen shots of this one!

9, Age of Empires 2 Gold Edition
Age of Empires II Gold Edition is the sequel to Age of Empires. Includes the Conquerors Expansion pack which was sold separately on the PC. Classic real-time strategy game. Features medieaval civilizations, troops, technology and warfare. Campaigns and random scenario generator. Different styles of games, including against-the-clock. Excellent graphics. 10, Black & White

11, The Sims

12, Championship Manager 01/02
The very latest incarnation of the top soccer management game. Updated and expanded database. Includes database editor. Improved game engine, computer AI and commenttary.Improvements include, attribute masking mode, time to be added at the end of the game is now displayed on screen, the addition of a game diary where you can make notes about players and set reminders. So when you are scouting there is no need for pencil and paper, plus you can set reminders about contract renewals etc. Loads more.

13, Icewind Dale

18, Undying - Clive Barkers
