Another month but the same result. The Sims has gripped the imagination of the UK Mac gamer and nothing seems capable of shaking its iron-grip on the Top 30 Mac Games Chart. For three months in a row The Sims Unleashed has been number one.
Even the challenge of Medal of Honor Allied Assault has flagged and it has slipped to 6th place. Looks like Aspyr may have waited too long before releasing Spearhead the add-on pack.
Prize for highest new release goes to Heroes of Might & Magic 4. Though not brand new this month it has been out only a short time and has received, this month, a major patch to correct its AI which the game programmer admitted was not working incorrectly as released.
Champ Manager 01/02, Tropico and Civilization 3 all put in sterling performances for older titles to cliam top ten finishes in February. March or early April should see the release of the new Champ Manager 4 for the Mac in a near simultaneous release with the PC version (which is due out on 28th March). Feral will also be releasing during 2003 the add-on for Tropico, called Paradise Island. Click here to sign up to be notified of the release of these or any other Mac future release.
The only February release to make a chart entry was at a lowly eleventh for Ten for X Games Vol 1, the main claim for which is that it includes Bugdom 2. Bugdom 2 has only been around since December so the logic of including it in a compilation less than three months later escapes me.
The presence of Black & White and Oni further down the chart completes what is a good month for Feral. They may have an even better March depending on when they release Championship Manager 4!
