I don't know if anybody knows this but i just figured it out while i was playing. If your in a game online and one of those advertising bots come in and start spamming words you can either mute them which takes about 2 seconds but i am terribly lazy. I found out if you press the key "N" it will clear the message things in the top left corner when people chat. Its cool. No thanks needed here! 9/6 - Eman

If you're a Necromancer, then this is the cheat for you (it's more of a hint)! This works with all melee fighters except skeletons. Summon a Blood Golem and cast Iron Maiden onto the monsters you're fightin'. Iron Maiden will return the damage dealt to your Golem and act as the Golem's attack, giving life to you!

If you're playing amazon and you're lvl 30 as you lvl up try to max the arrow that makes your enemies frozen and the valkyrie so that you don't have to charge into battle and start running with monsters chasing you (gets really annoying). Instead make a valkyire and have her take as much hits as possible. I've also noticed that she can heal fast (maybe she has potions).

You need 1 emerald and a ring and 4 antidote potions mix it into your horical cube and you have a very good ring.

To build up a good Paladin you should max out zeal, holy shield, and fantacism. I think that whatever you put on your Paladin is what you want for your Paladin to be good in combat or whatever...

did you guys know there's a secret hare level? It's pretty simple to get there! take off all your stuff ( armor, items, everything including those in your private stash) save and exit. the next time you load the game, go to the Catacombs level 4, defeat Andariel using your fist ( usually, when you defeat andariel there's a portalbut when you defeat her with your fist, there's going to be a red portal instead of the ordinary one. enter and "ta-da!" you're in the secret hare level. defeat the rabbit king
18/2 - Bryan CHEAT! I stumbled upon this cheat accidentally when I was fighting the summoner in Act 2. I kept dying over and over again every time I got near it so I decided to use a rancid gas potion to weaken it but I died before I could switch back to my main weapon after I hit it with the gas. Now when I died I left the "press esc to continue" screen on for a few moments out of frustration and guess what: The gas potion continue working and quickly killed the summoner boss. When I restarted, I just went back there and clicked on my dead body and the goods from the dead summoner

Usually, when you're a pally, use holy shield and thorns which are probably the best skills a pally has.
5/5 - tom CHEAT! find two rejunevation potions, go to charsi or whoever can trade. Sell one of the rejunevation potions and place the other one in your belt. Buy the rejunevation potion that you've been sold by press the shift button and right click on mouse. do it until you've got eight other rejunevation potion. this hint work in lvl 1. after you have the horadic cube you can transmute 3 rejunevation potion into full rejunevation and do the step in lvl 1.it's save you life than use a healing potion.truly. 5/3 - Joshua

As a Paladin on the nightmare:difficulty level, I found an easy way to beat the Ancients. First, if any of the three are 'Immune to Physical' or 'Lightning Enhanced' use a town portal to leave and then come back. Fill your belt with 16 healing potions, your inventory with 12 (saving the rest of it for charms, etc.) and 12 in the Horaldric Cube. Lead the Ancients into the bottom-right-hand corner (I used this corner any corner will do) of the summit where there is a giant rock structure. Get on the other side of it. When Madawc (the dart thrower) approaches, situate yourself on the direct opposite side of the rock. Instead of going around it, Madawc will just throw his darts into the rock. With him out of the picture that leaves the other two. To kill the other two I used the Thorns spell on level 20 (maximum level) causing part of the damage done to you to be directed back at the ancients. As you fight them, use your potions with about 2/3 life left (to be safe). Make sure you stay on the opposite side, away from Madawc. Once your belt has run out, keep your inventory open while you use potion from there. Once you've killed the two ancients move all remaining potions to your belt before moving to the other side of the rock and killing the third. Keep using the Thorns spell. Hope this helps.
12/11 - Robert T Mruczek CHEAT! My 1st hint(s). For starters, I like to use the Horadric Cube to combine any 3 mana and any 3 health potions to get a small Rejuvenation vial. Then combine three of those to get a 100% Rejuvenation vial which instantaneously increases ALL your hit points.
Next, and this is a CHEESY way to kill tough enemy groups, I note where every major shrine is, then when I am about to venture into a tough area, I carry two portal scrolls...I first go to a previous area with a shrine, ideally a combat or armour shrine, and then portal back to town where I take the Wayfare Circle (or whatever it is called...forgive me as I'm at work now) and I warp to the tough area with a HUGE increase in stats and destroy everything in my path. Of course, the experience shrine can come in handy here as well. The second scroll is so I can warp back to town when the carnage is over. Third, keep in mind that the natural resistances cannot exceed 76% so after awhile, you should stay away from items that are focused on increasing resistances (applicable for Barbarians, I should say), as I got the resistances up significantly then could use other objects for better uses.
Fourth, and this is from the Expansion set in Act V, keep in mind that the armorer can insert a socket into ANY ITEM of your choosing after you complete a quest. This can make a powerful item a totally devastating one.
Fifth, don't underestimate the power of a ring that takes away 2 from enemy damage, let alone certain headgears and other objects that take away up to 10 damage points per hit. Over the course of the game, this can be an incredible lifesaver. Same goes for the Expansion items with the 'of Razors' suffix that deal out tons of damage per hit. Three perfect skulls in a shield will do incredible amounts of damage to any enemy foolish unlucky enough to contact you.
Sixth, when venturing into areas with heavy enemy concentrations, definitely do not use a weapon with a sub-20 durability factor.
Seventh, never EVER let yourself get trapped in-between large Champion Abominables (Expansion Edition) as they are chock-full of hit points and can tear you apart fast... same for Moon Lords and Night Lords.
Eighth, there's an exploding enemy in the Expansion set that does devastating damage to you if it contacts you. Either run from it, or launch a healing potion before it makes contact, this way you are already in the healing process and it counteracts it somewhat.
Ninth, in Expansion set, the areas with all the missile launching devices, try climbing up the left-side of the screens to the topmost area of each section, then use a back and forth pattern to clean out the enemies downward. This way the launchers cannot get you from behind !! Tenth... save those Runes. Though I haven't personally discovered any secret combos yet except one (the three that you are told of in the expansion set via completion of a quest), I have a lot of them now, some with a value of about 4K in gold pieces meaning some are more powerful than others. I have either 8 or 9 different ones now. No idea how many there are for sure.
That's it for this posting. I have logged 50 hours on the game and climbing. Hope to see some major Horadric recipes soon.

Secret Cow Level: Get Wirt's leg from Tristram by clicking on his body (You can find it in the upper left part of Tristram), get a Tomb of Town Portal from Akara, and combine them in the Horadric Cude to get "ta da!" the Secret cow level! (only available until after you beat diablo.)
[Pls let us know if you get this to work] 11/6 - Anon
OK, Diablo 2 has a sucky save method, you can't go backwards.
Well, when you complete a quest, or are unsure of which spell to pick, just copy the save folder, or just your character, and put it somwhere safe. Then if something goes wrong just put the original files back. Especially usefull for testing out spells!

Belt-Up! Potions are the key, whatever character you are playing. They need to be at hand at all times. That's why it's preferable to have a fully stocked three-tiered belt (18 potions) than a magically powered one-tier belt (only 6 potions).

A Sorceress can utilize fire, cold, or lightning, but it's best to pick one specialty to master early on. Then choose another one to increase more slowly. Fire and cold are probably the best combination. Eventually you can go for them all, but at first its best to master one discipline at a time. 27/4 - Anonymous
Mana is paramount, particularly if you're playing a Sorceress. Therefore, develop the Warmth skill as often as you can. Warmth increases the regeneration rate of your mana. 22/4 - 16/4/2001
If you're playing a Paladin in multiplayer, make sure any other Paladins use an opposite aura to yours. So, by using different protective auras you can protect the entire party from most any damage. 25/3 - Anon
When you die you reappear, without your possessions, back in town. Worse still, all the mosters have respawned. If you think you will be unable to get back to your corpse to retrieve your gear then you can get it by saving the game, exiting, and then restarting to the game. Your stuff will be waiting for you in the town.

Save money and carrying capacity by creating an eternal Town Portal! Firstly, cast a Town Portal spell and use it. Next, use the waypoint system to quickly return to where you cast the portal. This method enables you to use the same portal forever providing you never use it the other way. Set two up and you can go both ways, just remember which is which!

Try casting your the Iron Maiden spell on the Iron Golem. The Iron Maiden spell causes damage to monsters that attack you. The strength of the Iron Golem means that monsters will die by the dozen as they repeatedly attack it!

As a Barbarian make sure you spend your early skill points on weapons skills that are of immediate use. Don't waste them on skills that you cannot use until much later. The two best ones early on in the game are an edge weapon such as an Axe or a Sword and a Mace. There are plenty of magic Axes and swords early on in Diablo II and so you'll reap an immediate benefit. The Mace is essential because they inflict massive damage on undead creatures and they come in abundance in the second part of Diablo II.

As Cain says, "You have quite a treasure there in that Horadric Cube," but what does it do? The Horadric Cube is more than just a plot device. Almost any item can be placed in the cube and transmuted for surprising results. But you must experiment to find the best combinations. Send us your combinations and results and we'll publish them here! Send them to diablo2hints@macgold.com
