My tip is try playing one of the alien races. They are not very photogenic and I'm sure lots of players will never think to play them - Svensgaard and his Pirates are too tempting for most players! As an alien Caretaker or Usurper you'll find things a little different. To start with you always have an implaccable enemy - the other alien species, so you are constantly at war from the first move. Other factions will never trust you enough to share technological advances with you, so be prepared for lots of research - especially as there are tons of new advances to be had in this enhanced game. Other factions react differently to you as an alien, the game has a different atmosphere when you're playing an alien, it is a refreshing change.
