Kid Pix has been around as long as MacGold and that's some record! But the Mac OS X version has been a long time coming but it is well worth the wait. It is now integrated with iLife so you can use iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand and Mail with the program to unleash you child's creativity.ÊKids will get a big head start in creating podcasts with new features that allow them to export to iPod video format and automatically set slide duration to the length of their narration.Ê
Other enhancements include a bigger canvas, it will now stretch to fill much bigger areas. The interface has been redesigned for kids, bigger cursors now in full colour have more obvious uses and the buttons are bigger and easier to read! The crisper cleaner graphics take advantage of the Mac OS X graphical capabilities and that means no more jaggies, also using a non-English language is simply a matter of typing!
Really young users are catered for by an extensive built-in help system. Also if you hover over a button a name tag pops up to explain its function. Perhaps the best feature is the gentle spoken advice that Kid Pix offers while at the same time highlighting in red the area to use. For example, in the Backgrounds area Kid Pix would say, 'Click on a background to select it. Then drag it onto your page!'
