Tom Clancy Rainbow Six is a game published by MacSoft for the Apple Macintosh. Free add-on pack 'Eagle Watch' included
As John Clark, codename 'Rainbow', you'll lead the West's response to the threat posed by free agents from the former Communist Bloc.
Based on the eponymous espionage novel by Tom Clancy, as you would expect you receive loads of background detail on each of the 17 missions. Using this information you will first Plan then Execute your mission.
You will then have to select your 8 man team to carry out your plan. Again there's plenty of biographical information to assist your selection. You will have loads of high tech weaponry and equipment to draw upon. Having pulled all these items together in a coherent plan to achieve the mission objective we then move to the Action phase which will take place in real time.
Given the vulnerability of your team members to enemy fire etc. you will find it useful to use the game's training areas before undertaking a real mission. Just like Tomb Raider you can practice on assault courses, utilise shooting ranges and even have a go on clearing a building.
During the mission, in real time, you will have to control your 'fire teams' to ensure they fulfil the Plan. Try not to panic!
Good news for Mac owners. We've got a better deal than PC player. Once you have completed the 17 missions in Rainbow Six you can move onto Rainbow Six Eagle Watch. This add-on pack was a cost option for PC owners but comes to you as part of this title. Eagle Six will give you 5 more missions, new weapons, new team members and 6 new multiplayer games.
Multiplayer? Yes, you can go head to head or collaborate with up to 16 other players over the Internet or LAN.
