|
Doom 3, an everyday tale of farming folk in the Yorkshire Dales... NOT! Well, of course it isn't!! It is THE classic 1st-person shooter where you have to fight back against a demonic invasion of a research facility on Mars.
Doom 3 was built with id Software's newest 3D graphics engine providing cinema-quality visuals and 5.1 surround sound. Single-player and online Doom 3 games are provided.
Your Doom 3 character is a low-ranking Marine on a routine rotation to the Mars Research Facility of the United Aerospace Corporation (UAC). After a few minutes of wandering through the facility, listening to rumours about impending catastrophe from the staff (similar to Half-Life on the PC) it all kicks off. The takes place in dark, lavishly detailed environments with scary sound effects! Fearsome monsters. Dimly lit environments. The perfect recipe for horror.
Groaning zombie, eleven-eyed Imps, floating Cacodemons, ethereal Revenants, a swarm of spider-like Trites and many more monster from Hell each have a unique style of attack.
There are many powerful weapons in the game and you'll need to use them. Although wielding the chaingun is fun the weapon eats bullets at an alarming rate and using it on close-range targets was a waste of ammo. Queue a switch to shotgun or chainsaw for effective CQB.
Be afraid of the dark, be very afraid. Doom 3 is a dark game and the spawn of hell know how to use it. But you can't hold your weapon and a flashlight at the same time so... erm, gun, torch... torch, gun... decisions, decisions, er... what was that? Where's that damn torch! Ouch, now I've dropped the Missile Launcher on my foot. Hang on, that's not my foot! HEEEELLP!
